A tragedy: Anti-GMA intellectuals fall prey to GMA's communist bogey

One of the Arroyo government's motives in its ongoing attacks on the legitimacy of the Left (as displayed by resurgent redbaiting,  the political slays and the trumped up charges against activist leaders) has become clear. Not only is it an attempt to brutally disenfranchise the Left from politics, but also a smokescreen, a diversion, so that the people, especially those seeking the illegitimate leader's ouster would have their attention divided.

Look at how it has affected some conservatives in the broad anti-Arroyo movement. They did not raise even a whimper over the (continuing) spate of killings of  activists, and worse they parotted the same mindless anti-communist trash being spread by the likes of Norberto Gonzales and Romeo Intengan. These burgis intellectuals better control and hopefully overcome their biases against the Left so that next time GMA raises the Red bogey, they would not fall to the trap and refuse to be GMA's fascist echoes.

In the name of civil liberties and human rights, all Filipinos should denounce each and every politically-motivated murder, massacre, abduction or any other attack on anyone or any group perceived by Mrs. Arroyo as her enemy. We should assert everyone's right to be considered innocent until proven guilty, to be free from illegal and warrantless arrests, to be free from political persecution. We may disagree on how we view the problems besetting the nation and the long term solutions we pursue, but that should not hinder us from uniting to assert the most fundamental liberties every citizen should enjoy.

For indeed, the Left is not the enemy. The real enemy, at this time, is this usurper Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.

Hello Constantflux,

Please do not think that people who do not share your political ideology are numb to the unabated political killings and the wanton abuse of human rights.

There are many of us who, in the name of basic decency and humanity strongly denounce Gloria's evil. She has absolutely, categorically no moral right to to inflict on a people her gargantuan lust for power by using our compatriots from the left as bogeys.
