THE COMMUNIST Party of the Philippines (CPP) has ordered its armed force, the New People’s Army (NPA), to replicate the rebel raid in Bukidnon province on Tuesday and “seize as many weapons as possible from the enemy.”

The raid, on a militia base in Sitio (sub-village) Buko, Banlag village in Valencia City, netted the rebels 29 rifles and left one soldier dead and another wounded.

“We need to seize more and more weapons to arm the growing number of people volunteering to join the NPA,” CPP spokesman Gregorio Rosal said.

“More vigorously carry out attacks against the Arroyo regime’s reign of terror, intensify the armed revolution, and bring people’s war to a new and higher level,” Rosal added.

Congratulating the rebel unit that pulled off the raid, Rosal said that “by seizing more weapons from the enemy, the people’s army is able to arm its growing ranks, strengthen itself, and further steel the people’s determination to carry forward the armed revolution.”
